Lock change service: when rekeying isn’t enough
Sometimes the right move isn’t to re-pin the existing lock, it’s to retire it. If your hardware is worn, scratched up, low grade, or simply outdated, a clean replacement gets you better security, better feel, and a much nicer-looking front door. We make that swap easy, fast, and finished in a single visit.
When we recommend a lock change over a rekey
- The existing lock is binding, sticky, or making grinding noises
- Hardware is Grade 3 (builder-basic) on a high-priority entry
- The lock has visible damage, rust, or has been pry-marked
- You want to upgrade to a smart lock or a high-security restricted keyway
- You’re consolidating mismatched hardware to a unified look across the home
Hardware brands we install most
For mainstream residential we install Schlage B-series, Kwikset SmartKey, and Baldwin deadbolts. For high-security we install Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, and Schlage Primus. For smart locks we install Schlage Encode, Yale Assure, August, Kwikset Halo, and Level. For commercial entries we install Schlage L-, ND-, and AL-series, Yale, and Sargent.
What to expect on lock-change day
We arrive within your scheduled window, walk the door with you, present hardware options at your price tier, and complete most installs efficiently per door. We test the new keys in every direction (interior knob to deadbolt, deadbolt to strike, latch to frame) before we leave, and we vacuum the work area. You receive a written invoice listing every part installed and applicable warranty terms.
