Locked out of your car in Maryland
You walk back to your car, reach for the door, and your keys aren’t in your pocket. They’re on the seat. Or in the trunk. Or wedged between the cushion and the console. It’s a stressful five seconds that can ruin a day. Recommended Locksmith dispatches a mobile car-lockout tech across Maryland’s Maryland, Montgomery, Frederick, Howard, Prince George’s, and Anne Arundel counties, day or night, with a flat quote on the call.
What we do (and what we don’t)
We are deliberately specialized. We open locked vehicles using non-destructive techniques, slim-jim, air wedge, and long-reach tools. That’s what 95% of car-lockout calls actually need. We do not do automotive key programming, transponder chip pairing, key cutting, or ignition repair. Those are different specialties that require manufacturer-specific equipment and dealer-level access. By saying no to that work, we can say yes to faster dispatch on the lockout calls we’re actually best at.
- ✅ Unlock locked-out vehicles (door open)
- ✅ Retrieve keys from inside the cabin or trunk
- ✅ Open trunks where keys are visible inside
- ❌ Cut new keys (referral to auto locksmith or dealer)
- ❌ Program transponder chips or smart fobs (dealer-only)
- ❌ Repair broken ignitions (specialty service)
What to do while you wait for us
First, get to a safe spot. If you’re in a parking garage at night or on a busy roadside, move into a well-lit area, lock yourself near other people, and stay aware of your surroundings. If anyone is still in the car (children, pets), tell our dispatcher immediately so we can prioritize the call. Don’t try the “coat hanger trick” you’ve seen on YouTube, modern cars have shielded door mechanisms and you’re likely to damage the weatherstripping or scratch paint. Don’t break a window unless someone’s safety is in immediate danger.
What older cars vs newer cars look like
Older vehicles (pre-2010) typically have fewer anti-theft barriers and unlock quickly with a slim-jim or air wedge through the door frame. Newer vehicles often have shielded linkage rods, push-button ignitions, and frame-mounted sensors that require slightly different techniques. We carry tools for both. The one big exception is European luxury vehicles with full electronic anti-theft systems , for those, you may need a dealer regardless. We always tell you on the phone if your vehicle falls into that category.

Honest, flat lockout quoting
We give you a flat lockout quote on the phone before we dispatch. The quote includes drive time, unlock labor, and any after-hours surcharge, no surprise fees. You approve the quote on the call, we confirm it in writing on arrival, and you only pay after the door is open. No bait-and-switch, no “the tools cost extra,” no inflated late-night rates that weren’t mentioned upfront.
