A residential locksmith who treats your home like a home
Residential locksmith work isn’t just about locks. It’s about a tech who walks in, takes their shoes off without being asked, brings a clean drop cloth for the doorway, and leaves the entry looking better than when they arrived. That’s how we run every Recommended Locksmith home visit, from a quick single-deadbolt swap to a full security overhaul on a multi-entry property.
Common residential locksmith jobs we handle every week
- Whole-home rekeys after closing, breakups, roommate changes, or lost keys
- Front-entry deadbolt upgrades from Grade 3 builder hardware to Grade 1
- Smart lock installs with proper door-prep, strike alignment, and app pairing
- Patio and sliding-door reinforcement
- Rear, side, and garage entry hardware replacements
- Mailbox, storage-room, and shed lock installations
- Door alignment, strike-plate reinforcement, and frame repair after a forced entry
Hardware tiers we typically recommend
For most Maryland homes we recommend Grade 2 deadbolts at minimum on every exterior door, with reinforced 3-inch screws into the framing studs. For homes that have experienced an attempted break-in, or that face a busy street, we routinely upgrade to Grade 1 hardware (Schlage B-series, Medeco, Mul-T-Lock). For families that want keyless convenience, we install Schlage Encode, Yale Assure, August, and Kwikset Halo smart locks and configure them on Wi-Fi before we leave.
Who should call us
Our most common residential customers fall into a few clear groups. New homeowners who just closed on a property and want every key reset before they sleep there the first night. Renters who just moved in and aren’t sure how many copies the previous tenant or landlord still holds. People after a breakup or roommate change where keys are unaccounted for and a quick rekey is cheaper than worrying about it. Anyone who has lost a keychain at a restaurant, gym, or in a stolen wallet, rekeying neutralizes the missing keys instantly. Customers after a break-in or attempted break-in, where we replace any compromised hardware and reinforce the rest of the entry. And building managers turning over rentals between tenants. If any of those describes your situation, we’ve handled it before, probably this week.
What a residential visit looks like
We arrive within your scheduled window. The tech rings the bell, introduces themselves, and shows ID and Maryland license #555 before any tools come out. We walk every exterior entry point with you to confirm the scope, front door, back door, side door, garage entry, basement walkout, patio sliders. Anything that needs adjustment beyond what was quoted on the phone, we surface up front. You receive a written quote on-site before any work begins. Most residential jobs are completed in 45 to 90 minutes in a single visit. Before we leave, we test every key in every direction (interior knob, deadbolt, latch into strike) and walk you through anything new, smart-lock app pairing, fresh keys, warranty terms. We clean up the work area and vacuum if anything fell. You get an itemized receipt by email.
Brands we work with
We routinely install and service Schlage, Kwikset, Yale, Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, Baldwin, Emtek, August, Level, and Wyze. For Maryland’s older housing stock, we also stock pinning kits and replacement parts for vintage Russwin, Corbin, and original Schlage A- and F-series hardware. If you’ve picked a specific lock you want installed, tell us the model on the call and we’ll either confirm we have it on the truck or pick it up on the way.
Honest, upfront quoting
You’ll always know exactly what your visit will cost before we dispatch. We give you an honest quote on the call and confirm it in writing on-site before any work begins, no surprises, no hidden fees, no "while we’re here" upsells. You only ever approve work you’re comfortable with.
