House lockout help from a local crew you can trust
Getting locked out of your home is awful, there’s no other word for it. You’re stressed, you’re tired, you might have a hot car or sleeping kids in the picture, and you have no idea what a locksmith is "supposed" to cost. Recommended Locksmith built our entire lockout program to be the opposite of the high-pressure scam ads: live dispatcher, honest ETA, flat lockout quote on the phone, and almost always a non-destructive entry.
Step by step: what happens when you call
- You call. A real local dispatcher answers, usually on the first or second ring.
- We confirm your address, your lock type if you can describe it, and a flat lockout quote.
- A licensed technician is dispatched immediately. You receive their name and ETA by text.
- The tech arrives. They show ID and Maryland license #555; you show proof you live there.
- The lock is opened, non-destructively in the vast majority of cases.
- You pay by card, digital wallet, or cash. You walk back into your home.
Why the ID check?
We require proof that you live at the property because anyone could call a locksmith claiming to be locked out. It’s a quick step that protects every homeowner and renter we serve. If you don’t have an ID matching the address, a recent lease, utility bill, or video call with the owner works.
Lost-key scenarios, should you rekey on the spot?
If your key is just left inside, we open the door and you go back to your normal day. If the key is actually lost (purse stolen, key fell out somewhere unknown, ex-roommate kept theirs), we strongly recommend an immediate rekey. It costs significantly less than waiting for something bad to happen, and we’re already at the property with the right tools. Most homeowners say yes, and most are very glad they did.
